在項(xiàng)目中,設(shè)計(jì)團(tuán)隊(duì)與HDR團(tuán)隊(duì)進(jìn)行了合作,共同完成了對(duì)該廣場(chǎng)的改造。該場(chǎng)地的人流量巨大,周邊便是麻州的交通局所在地。據(jù)悉,該廣場(chǎng)的建設(shè)受到了多個(gè)當(dāng)?shù)貦C(jī)構(gòu)的支持,他們希望設(shè)計(jì)團(tuán)隊(duì)能夠提供一個(gè)可滲透性的,結(jié)構(gòu)穩(wěn)定的廣場(chǎng)鋪砌方案,就像Cambridge大街和市政廳廣場(chǎng)改造后的那樣。
在該項(xiàng)目中,設(shè)計(jì)團(tuán)隊(duì)對(duì)人行道和自行車小道都進(jìn)行了一定的改造與修整。他們?cè)趫?chǎng)地中并入了坡道,而沒有選擇用階梯,這主要是從Cambridge大街的設(shè)計(jì)中得來(lái)靈感的。Cambridge大街是當(dāng)?shù)刈钪匾慕煌屑~之一,市政廳也位于這條大街上。最近,該廣場(chǎng)終于完成建設(shè),跟預(yù)期的沒有很大差別,廣場(chǎng)剛一完工,便吸引了游客們的注意力。附近的居民和來(lái)來(lái)往往的路人都喜歡駐足在這里,仔細(xì)體會(huì)這個(gè)城市開放空間帶給人們的喜悅。新建后的廣場(chǎng)為這片區(qū)域重新注入了活力,這里經(jīng)常舉辦一些戶外活動(dòng),非常熱鬧。

Halvorson Design Partnership is collaborating with HDR, Inc. on improvements to the Government Center MBTA station. This project has undergone a multi-agency approval process to provide a permeable, structurally stable paving system as the new standard for Cambridge Street and City Hall Plaza improvements.
In addition, pedestrian and bicycle access has been improved by incorporating sloped walks in lieu of steps, resulting in universal access to Cambridge Street, this important transit hub and City Hall.This first major implementation project, building on the recently completed Greening of City Hall Plaza Master Plan, breathes life into an underutilized mid-century space largely devoid of human activity.
